The charming village of Embleton dates back to pre-medieval times, and its fine Norman church, the Church of the Holy Trinity, was built in the 12th century. In recent years, a Heritage Trails Project has been set up to explore the history of the parish, and its well-designed walks range from a stroll round the village to a six mile route along the coast and inland. Golfers can enjoy playing on a number of different courses in the area, and the area is famous for its wide, sandy bays, dunes and beaches. Close by is the fishing village of Craster and the magnificent ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle. Howick Hall gardens and Alnwick Castle and Garden are among the local attractions which are also well worth a visit. Embleton offers a warm welcome to visitors, and is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of Northumberland.
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian’s Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
